Cheverly Town Park Cheverly, Maryland November 1, 2020 1300 hours Juneteenth Flag 156th Anniversary of Maryland Emancipation Day Hosted by the Cheverly African American Community Organization. November 1, 1864 marked a pivotal day in Maryland's history when a new state constitution freed all those held in bondage within its boundaries. The decision made Maryland one of the earliest states to abolish slavery - a full year ahead of the 13th Amendment. Troopers Hill, Hutton and Theard perform the flag raising duty at the 156th Anniversary of the Maryland Emancipation Day.
